Get a panoramic view of the Longest Bridge in Penang Strait ‘s South Channel In Southeast Asia. Enjoy a fast ferry ride on the Bukit Merah Laketown Resort Freshwater bay. Pay the Happy Orang Utans a visit and learn about these Great Apes at Orang Utan Island
To get to Orang Utan Island, you will first have to take approximately an hour’s worth of a drive down Southeast Asia’s longest bridge. Travel from the island of Penang to its mainland on the 24-kilometre long Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah Bridge. About 17 kilometres of the bridge sits over a beautiful expanse of water, making the drive a scenic one as there are no buildings to block your view of the sky and the South Channel of the Penang Strait.
Head south along the North-South Expressway and you will find yourself in the sleepy town of Bukit Merah that invokes a sense of peace with its vast plantations of palm trees and pineapples. Once you’re out of the land vehicle, you will embark on a short ferry trip that will cruise through a freshwater lake to bring you to Orang Utan Island, nestled away within the perimeter of the eco-friendly Bukit Merah Laketown Resort.
